Thursday Night Market Presents Annie B’s Community Drive |
Durham, California - September 13, 2011
The Worm Farm Learning Foundation, along with other North State nonprofits participating in the Annie B’s Community Drive will showcase their services in the Chico City Plaza during the Thursday Night Market Presents on September 15. North Valley Community Foundation, sponsor of the Annie B’s Community Drive, is partnering with the Downtown Chico Business Association, on this special Thursday Night Market event.
At this year's Thursday Night Market Presents event in the Chico downtown square, The Worm Farm Learning Foundation along with 50 other nonprofits with booths will be set up in the downtown Chico City Plaza.
The Annie B's grant funds are made possible through a donation of $250,000 (over five years) from anonymous donors.
The Community Foundation is seeking to add additional co-challengers' donations to this year's pool, through the support of local businesses.
The Worm Farm Learning Foundation provides free outreach activities for schools and universities, associations and individuals throughout the California North State, teaching the benefits of composting with worms and demonstrating how we can all have a positive impact on man's global environmental imprint.
The community services provided by The Worm Farm Learning Foundation have long been considered a "must see" for the entertaining and often humorous tours given by founders Mark and Arlita Purser. Over the years, these activities have taken on an increased importance in the light of diminished or even cancelled state budgets for many educational programs.
School tours can cost $14 or more per student and The Worm Farm Learning Foundation provides tours at no cost. Consequently, the 1,873 students in 54 schools that visited the foundation since 2010 alone have saved up to $26,222 - and counting.
Since 1990, hundreds of classrooms of all ages - from preschool to university - have benefited from the educational tours provided at The Worm Farm. During the Annie B's Community Drive, donations made to TWFLF will be supplemented with a percentage grant from North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF).
Between August 1 and September 30, The Worm Farm Learning Foundation is actively seeking donations from its supporters. Donors are encouraged to give with the incentive of grant funds as a percentage match for donations made through the Annie B's Community Drive. One hundred percent of all Annie B's donations go directly to participating nonprofits.
