SHIPPING POLICY

- All worm orders are shipped on Mondays via USPS Priority (or Express) mail only. - Non perishable items may be shipped via USPS parcel, priority or express.  For large shipments or to request shipments via UPS or FedEx, please call The Worm Farm.

VERY IMPORTANT--PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SECTION IN ITS ENTIRETY

CAUSE OF WORM LOSSES

We have very few worm losses, however, the occasional loss normally occurs because the US Postal Service drops the shipment off in direct sunlight and the worms die from the heat.

SHIPMENT DELIVERY

We ship through the US Postal Service because their storage buildings are all climatized, protecting the worms from extreme temperatures.  If your usual shipment delivery point is not located under shade, please contact the postal service and ask them to leave your shipment in a shaded area.
If you know that there is no safe place to leave your worms, please request that your order be marked "HOLD. CALL FOR PICKUP”.  The USPS will hold your worms at their premises for pickup.

SHIPPING CARE

Every pound of worms is shipped with additional peat moss which both protects the worms and provides them food during their move.  Therefore, for each pound of worms ordered, the total shipping weight of the package will be around two pounds. The packaged worms can normally last about a week, but we recommend that you immediately place them in proper worm bedding and finely mist with water that has NOT been treated with water softeners (these contain salts which will kill the worms!).  If you have a watermelon rind, you may place it upside down on top of the worm bin.  This will help to create a dark moist area for them while they are adjusting to the move.

GUARANTEE

Upon initial delivery of your worms, if you find that your worms have died during delivery, please contact us immediately.  We will replace your order with another order of worms.  Our guarantee is for the 1st shipment only and does not include incorrect care or mistreatment of worms after delivery.
